Shiva Rea, M.A., has founded the Global Mala Project, Prana Flow-Energetic Vinyasa, and the Samudra Global School for Living Yoga. She bases her work upon her worldwide travels, studies in UCLA’s World Arts and Cultures program, and the roots of yoga found in tantra, ayurveda and bhakti. She has learned from: elders in places like Ghana and Kerala; masters of the arts of yoga, kalarip- payatu (martial arts), odissi (classical dance), world dance; and from collaborations with DJs and kirtan musicians. As a pioneering teacher in the evolution of vinyasa and the power of free-form (sahaja) movement for more than twenty years, her home practice DVD and CD workshops, teacher trainings, pilgrimage retreats, and online programs have fertilized the lives of many—from yoga teachers and students to high-level athletes to leaders and artists living around the world. From large- scale festivals to transformative local classes, her energetic “pathways of flow” offer ways to kindle life-force from the heart outward into the world. Shiva’s life bridges healing arts and the science of flow, individual empowerment and collective shifts of consciousness, embodied liberation and sacred activism. Her mission is to awaken and serve our innate intelligence within our bodies and within our lives to achieve a sustainable future for all.
