The Talmud is by far the most important set of books in the Jewish faith aside from the Torah or the first five books of the Old Testament. In many ways, the Talmud may even surpass that in importance. I say this because if the Talmud did not exist, the laws that are written in the Torah would not make any sense. So in this way, it is like Jewish Canon law. Just like Catholic Canon law explains biblical texts of the bible, so too does the Talmud. It does not only explain laws, but it goes into great depth on many other topics as well.

There has never been a goddess in all the western traditions as maligned as the Goddess Lilith. She has been called the epitome of all that is evil in the world. She was considered wild, uninhibited, argumentative, and sexually deviant. She has been called the temptress, the prostitute from hell, and most popularly as the succubus that comes and not only steals the semen of men as they sleep, but also killing them in the process. Some of these qualities might very well be true and some not so much.

Kali, the dark mother of the Hindu pantheon is oft the most misunderstood Goddess in all human spiritual endeavor. Her images often depict her as being an evil and demonic force that few should ever dare call upon whilst others worship her as benign Goddess whom bestows blessings upon her supplicants. She is, in fact, both of these.

Ganesha also known more commonly in the west as Ganesh, is one of the most beloved, if not the most beloved deities in Hinduism. He is best known for his ability to help people remove obstacles in their lives. The great Canaanite god Baal is one of the most maligned deities in Western religious history. Only Satan is considered more sinister and evil. This is sad because Baal is not evil at all but has been done an injustice, and that is something I will be discussing in great length later in this book.

Some of you who know me know that I have a very powerful relationship with Goddess energy. I find personally that the magick that employs the Goddess is simply more powerful for me. I don't know exactly why. Perhaps it is just my personal experience or my karma that the divine Feminine speaks through and to me. I don't know. But I do know that almost all rituals I perform include the Goddess energy. Not that I don't use male energy at all, I do, but for my personal every day practice, it is rare.
