Oscar Wilde est un écrivain irlandais. Il se construit un personnage d'esthète et de dandy. À l'issue de ses études, Wilde s'installe à Londres, où il parvient à s'insérer dans la bonne société et les cercles cultivés, s'illustrant dans plusieurs genres littéraires. Au tournant des années 1890, il précise sa théorie esthétique dans une série de dialogues et d'essais, et explore dans son roman "Le portrait de Dorian Gray" (1890) les liens entretenus par la beauté, la décadence et la duplicité.

"The Canterville Ghost" is a popular short story by Oscar Wilde, widely adapted for the screen and stage. It was the first of Wilde's stories to be published, appearing in the magazine "The Court and Society Review" in February 1887. It was later included in a collection of short stories entitled "Lord Arthur Savile's Crime and Other Stories" in 1891. The American Minister and his family have bought the English stately home Canterville Chase, complete with the ghost of Sir Simon de Canterville - blood stains, clanking chains and all.

This is a fable about real and fake love, with a typically Wildean twist.

The Importance of Being Earnest is Wilde's most famous and oft-produced play. This special edition of Oscar Wilde's "The Ballad of Reading Gaol" includes several original features. Three textually different versions of "The Ballad" are presented. One of these is the original shorter version of the poem, originally edited by Wilde's good friend, Robbie Ross, for vocal recitation. Wilde's early poem "Humanitad" is also included as it has striking stylistic parallels with "The Ballad" and reveals the continuity of Wilde's work over the duration of his career.
