The Marriage of Heaven and Hell by the English poet William Blake consists of a series of texts written in the style of biblical prophecy but expressing Blake's own beliefs. Composed between 1790 and 1793, the book makes reference to Milton and Swedenborg, and adopts a device from Dante's Divine Comedy and Milton's Paradise Lost: a visit to hell. Blake expresses a deliberately depolarized and unified vision of the cosmos in which the material world and physical desire are both part of the divine order.

This collection arguably contains some of the most charming lyrics ever written in English. Blake’s poems can be enjoyed, not only for their historical importance in an age which was fiercely proud of its genius and its traditions, but also for their simple and beautiful expression of “two contrary states of the human soul.” Songs of Innocence was originally a complete collection of twenty-three poems, first printed in 1789. In 1794, a composite collection entitled Songs of Innocence and of Experience, containing forty-seven poems, was published.

"Poems of William Blake" includes: "Songs of Innocence", "Songs of Experience" and "The Book of Thel". All three are volumes of poetry by the English poet and painter, William Blake. "The Book of Thel" is a poem by William Blake, dated 1789 and probably worked on in the period 1788 to 1790. It was illustrated by his own plates, and is relatively short and easy to understand, compared to his later prophetic works. The metre is a fourteen syllable line.

William Blake’s poetry anthology ‘Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience’ was first published together in 1794. In 2012, at Event City, Trafford Centre, Manchester, contemporary Renaissance Man and surrealist artist Mark Sheeky painted a new series of watercolour illustrations for these famous words. This audiobook edition includes all of Blake’s classic poems from those volumes, read by 21st century surrealist artist Mark Sheeky.
