The Picture of Dorian Gray is a philosophical novel by Oscar Wilde, first published complete in the July 1890 issue of Lippincott's Monthly Magazine.

Dopo diversi tentativi infruttuosi, l'uccellino trova un cespuglio di rose rosse che però hanno perso la loro colorazione a causa del freddo inverno. Così il cespuglio suggerisce all'usignolo di colorare una rosa col suo sangue.

"Coloro che hanno molto, spesso sono avidi," amava ripetere Oscar Wilde, autore di questa toccante novella, che narra la storia di un gigante che torna al suo castello dopo una lunga assenza e nel giardino trova i bambini del villaggio che giocano felici.
