    As we approach milestones in life, such as birthdays or New Year’s, it’s natural to reflect on our past year. You may ask yourself, "What am I leaving behind?" and "What do I want to bring into the new year?" This post draws from personal experiences and insights to help you understand the power of change and personal growth.


    ## Why Embracing Change Matters

    Change is an essential part of life. It can be daunting, but it also opens the door to fresh opportunities. Embracing change allows us to shed old habits, limiting beliefs, and relationships that no longer serve us. By doing so, we can step into our future with renewed energy and purpose.


    ## What Are You Tolerating?

    One of the first questions to consider is: **What are you currently tolerating that doesn’t align with your future goals?** Tolerating things that don’t fit can drain your energy and hinder your growth. For example, if you want to achieve your dream job, you need to recognize that some aspects of it may not be ideal, but they are necessary. Consider the parts of your life that you are simply putting up with. Are there excuses you keep leaning into that are holding you back?


    ### Recognizing Limiting Beliefs

    Limiting beliefs can be insidious, affecting your confidence and decision-making. Ask yourself: **What fears are dictating your choices?** Many of us let fear prevent us from pursuing opportunities. For instance, one listener shared how fear had previously kept her from trying out for a school softball team. This year, she faced her fears and gave it her all, regardless of the outcome.


    ## The Importance of Mindset

    Your mindset is crucial in shaping your reality. **Are you holding onto a scarcity mindset?** If so, it may be time to shift to an abundance mindset. Many people who pursue personal growth consciously choose to let go of negative thinking patterns. High five to those committing time and energy to better themselves!


    ### Habits That Don’t Match Your Goals

    Consider your habits: **What actions aren’t aligned with where you want to be?** If your goal is to improve your fitness, but you're not exercising, it's time to reassess your daily routine. Identify habits that need to change and take actionable steps toward healthier choices.


    ## Relationships That Lift You Up

    Evaluate your relationships: **Which connections add value to your life, and which ones drain your energy?** As a busy single mom, I’ve found that my time is precious. I need my friendships to be uplifting and supportive. Don’t be afraid to have tough conversations about your needs and set boundaries with those who don’t contribute to your happiness.


    ### Forgiveness and Self-Compassion

    Finally, take stock of the areas where you need to forgive yourself. We all carry guilt and shame about past decisions. **What do you need to let go of to move forward?** Practicing self-compassion can be transformative and is vital for personal growth. Recognize that everyone makes mistakes; it’s how we learn and grow.
