About this listen

Two women. Two worlds. One love worth risking it all.

When professional soccer player Alex Grey goes on a vacation to the local South Carolina islands, she isn't anticipating any life-changing events. Just a relaxing weekend to prepare for the upcoming season. But that quickly changes when she finds herself the lone witness to a sailing accident and makes the decision to risk her own life to save a drowning woman—unwittingly coming to the rescue of a US senator's wife, Catharine Cleveland.

Despite the vast disparity between their worlds, the two women find themselves inexplicably drawn to one another after the near-catastrophic afternoon. Following a series of interactions from the soccer fields of Portland, to the Marina District of San Francisco Bay, and the cutthroat political circle of Washington, D.C., they find their friendship growing, transforming into an attraction neither woman can deny.

Nor an attraction either woman can comfortably embrace.

As the magnetism of their connection grows, both women are forced to decide if the pursuit of love is worth the cost while living under the scrutiny of the public eye.

The Senator's Wife is Book One of a three book series.

Having read the book I was thrilled when the audio was released, excited to hear the brilliant story brought to life. I was not disappointed.

The story is wonderfully engaging, the plot leading the listener through a brilliant tale that has you guessing where things are going next,

The characters instantly become insanely vivid. Their voices matching the ones I had in mind when reading it. Abby’s narration brought the written words to life in fantastic technicolour. Catharine’s voice is like liquid gold! I’m a fan of Abby’s work anyway, you add this to a Jen Lyon book and you have perfection!

I couldn’t stop listening. Simply put, if you want an enigmatic tale with the perfect amount of angst and a narration that enfolds you like a warm hug on a cold day, this is a must listen. Bring on book two… and three!

Captivating

Loved the book from start to finish, listened to it in every spare moment I had.
Loved the rollercoaster ride of ups & downs. Loved both the main characters of Alex & Catherine & the subsidiary characters. This is a very good story & I will be starting part 2 immediately.
Abby Craden as always does a wonderful job of narrating. You will not regret it.

Absolutely fantastic!!! 10/10

I heard a lot of excellent things about this book and it didn’t disappoint. Usually I read the book first then listen but this time I listened first and couldn’t listen fast enough so gripping was the story.
I did however struggle when listening to the Aussie and Scottish accents as for me they lacked authenticity from the Scotts and Australians I know.
However, overall, very enjoyable

It’s a good story with a decent storyline. I’ve heard Abby Craden narrate plenty books, but never with accents and it’s probably a good thing.
The British accents are just about bearable, but the Australian ones are truly appalling; on a par with Dick van Dyke’s cockney accent in Mary Poppins.
Abby - no more accents.
Good story and great characters.

Hilarious Accents

I usually enjoy Abby Craven's narration but.... this is a fairly good story although quite slow, but what really made it stand out was her attempts at an "Australian" accent, which over the course of the book morphed more into South African, and the "Scottish" accent which was just unrecognisable. Her "posh English" accent was also not the best but bearable. Still, I enjoyed a good laugh!
