About this listen

The galaxy is burning. The Emperor's loyal primarchs prepare to do battle with Warmaster Horus and his turncoat Legions on the black sand of Isstvan.

Such dark times herald new and yet more terrible things still to come, and when Astropath Kai Zulane unwittingly learns a secret that threatens to tip the balance of the war, he is forced to flee for his life. Alongside a mysterious band of renegades, he plunges into the deadly underworld of Terra itself, hunted like a criminal by those he once trusted. In the face of betrayal, Kai must decide where his own loyalties lie and whether some truths should be buried forever.

I would have given it 5 stars if not for a few thinga that really bothered me. Does not advance the main heresy plot at all, except a little bit at the end, but that does not bother me.

One of them was how a fully armored custodes loses a fight to a barehanded astartes, and said astartes gets loses to a simple man. Like wtf.

The other was why the fuck did not the emperor just tell his man to leave Kay the fuck alone as he is loyal and willing to cooperate.

Third, Athena and Kirico, expected more from their characters, last few chapters they just vanish. Like the author forgot they exist.

Very good and bad at the same time

not his best work to much for too little in my opinion. often had to rewind check story points and reconfirm who was who.which then started a loosing interest and a good story

a little disjointed

Doesn’t have the usual enormous battles or crazy fights but a really solid book. Fantastic performance as usual and a great story. Not my favourite book of the series but certainly well worth listening to.

Great Book

enjoyable yarn really well read. Not sure what it adds to the plot timeline/story arc. None of the major characters survive, well almost none. It sort of Peter's out in a episode two, too follow way. I could imagine the last screen in a Boris Karloff movie. Nonetheless worth it.

Good but what does it add?

It starts off a little slow but carry it on and the second half gets really really interesting

Give it chance
