Absolutely loved this book. The magic system was great, the politics are a heavy part of the story but done so so well. Fighting against the patriarchy from the start! There were twists and turns and just a beautiful story of love and friendship throughout. Loved!

I was bored first half of the book and had a rough time really connect when it's read in third person. I though it was a waste of a credit until the last hours when every came together and now I want to listen to part 2.

It took me a while to get in to this but once I did it was such a good start to the series, I'm totally invested in the whole Lessia, Merrick & Locke thing and can't wait to see how that plays out, the politics/election theme makes it a little different from typical popular Romantasies, secrets have started to come out but you can tell there is so much more to come, I'm going in to the next book hoping we find out a whole load more about Merrick,
