Torture. Darkness. Loss.

That's what the Fae king has planned to break her. But Elessia is prepared to fight. She is ready to fight her way out of the king's claws, fight to save Havlands from rebels and Fae alike, and above all, fight to return to the one she loves.

In the end, it's her own life she might need to fight for the most. Even though her mate will do anything, including ripping the entire world to shreds, to keep her safe, there is nowhere to hide when the gods themselves are after you.

Anthony disappointed in this book. Somehow his performance fell flat for those characters. The story was not that gripping as it was in the first two books to be honest, but it was still nice.

Not what I expected

While the story itself is good, the audiobook production is incredibly difficult to get through. The male narrator consistently mispronounces character names and locations, completely breaking the immersion.
His performance feels robotic and that sounds less like a voice actor and more like an AI text-to-speech generator. Female narrator from the first book was good and would have preferred if she had narrated the whole production.

I've now read and listened to this book in the same month because it is so good, I don't really know if I can explain or even know why this book touches me so much but it does, it isn't just the overall story, or Lessia, Merrick and their relationship that gives me all the feels, it's the wider characters, the friendships, the found family, the love, pain, emotion, anitcipating and overcoming loss, the never giving up, and so much more, I think just how the parts of the book that are supposed to provoke emotion are written and with the audio book that the narrators complement that so well has a lot to do with it, this isn't a book that made me sob and ugly cry but I tears rolling down my face almost unconsciously at times because I found it quite raw, I don't want to spoil too much by focusing on parts of the book that really got me but I do think Frelina and Raine were my favourites in this book, I'm so glad I found this series, and it'll be one I come back to time and time again

Best in the series so far

The male narrators are awful, but the books are amazing,
I really do wish the men would read as the books are written and use commas and full stops as they are meant to be used.
