Trisha Das is a storyteller whose work spans popular novels, award-winning documentaries, and a lifelong fascination with romance, humour, history, mythology, and modern life.
She is the author of Never Meant to Stay (The Grand Samara, in India) — a big-hearted romcom set in Delhi — as well as mythological comedies Ms Draupadi Kuru: After the Pandavas and its sequel The Misters Kuru: A Return to Mahabharata, where celestial heroes and heroines tumble down into contemporary Delhi. Her other novels include Kama’s Last Sutra, a time-travel romance set amid the sculpted temples of Khajuraho, and The Mahabharata Re-Imagined, alongside acclaimed non-fiction works such as The Art of the Television Interview and the internationally translated How to Write a Documentary Script. Ms Draupadi Kuru was nominated for the MAMI Word to Screen Award.
Before turning to fiction, Trisha built a celebrated career in documentary filmmaking. She has directed more than forty documentaries, won India’s National Film Award, and been honoured as the University of Georgia’s International Artist of the Year. Her work has screened at major international festivals, aired on Discovery, Star, and NDTV, and helped drive grassroots social change across India.
Her short stories and articles have appeared in Magical Women, Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia India, Hindustan Times, Scroll, and The Nod Mag.
Whether reimagining ancient tales, exploring love in unexpected places, or finding humour in the everyday, Trisha’s stories aim to make people laugh, think, and sometimes believe in magic again.
