Tahar Ali was born in Glasgow in 1971, the son of an immigrant father from India and a mother who arrived from Pakistan in broken sandals, speaking no English, having married a man she had never met over the telephone. He grew up in poverty. Lost his mother to cancer at fourteen. Started his first business at twelve. Over the decades that followed he built and lost, succeeded and failed, was made homeless twice with children to feed, and survived a breakdown that brought him to the very edge of his life. He wrote Fail Your Way to Success during that breakdown — not to sell a book, but because writing it was the only way through. It has since been read by thousands of people across the world who have never once told him it was anything other than powerful. Today Tahar is a motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and advocate for resilience and mental health awareness. A portion of all proceeds from his book goes to charity. His motto: "Every day above ground is a good day."
