I want to get happier and wiser as I get older. To get wiser, you have to look at problems and situations in new ways. You need to keep learning. One way is by reading books. Writing books presents a different challenge – presenting ideas in ways that capture the reader’s imagination. I want my children and grandchildren, and yours, to learn important ideas that helped me get wiser and happier. That’s why I wrote these two books. The theme of my first children’s book, “Hornwell Honeypicker The Flying Pig,” is being kind to oneself in difficult situations. “Hornwell Honeypicker The Flying Pig” is an adventure about friendship and overcoming fear. The reader, or listener, is introduced to the adventures of a young boy and a flying pig. If you are a young person who encounters a bully, Hornwell can help you. The theme of my second children’s book, “How Do I Get Smarter… and Happier?” is gaining emotional intelligence. Life has problems. Wisdom brings solutions when you can hear it and act on it. An inquisitive young boy and a flying pig ask questions of a wise old man. He responds in a way that allows the young boy to see problems in a different light. Had I learned the lessons in this book earlier, I would have been much happier. Have I gotten happier and wiser as I’ve gotten older? I believe I have.
