Son of a career Senior Chief Petty officer in the Navy, Joseph grew up across the US, with stops in Hawaii, California, Texas, Florida and finally Rhode Island, where he graduated High School from Moses Brown. Following his father's military footsteps, he graduated from the Naval Academy in 1991 and served as an aviation officer in Jacksonville, Florida. After leaving the military, he worked as a Financial Analyst for both a printing and lighting company in Kentucky and Kansas. In 2012 he moved to Seattle to join Amazon, working both in the Finance and Analytics fields before retiring in 2025. Today he spends time in both Kentucky and Florida with his wife Julie and their two dogs, Rusty and Snickers.
