Dr. Jay Van Bavel is a Professor of Psychology and Neural Science at New York University, Director of the Center for Conflict and Cooperation, and Author of THE POWER OF US book (winner of numerous awards, including the APA William James Book Award). His book has been translated into 10 languages. Jay completed his PhD at the University of Toronto. Jay’s research examines how collective concerns shape the mind, brain, and behavior. His work addresses issues of group identity, social motivation, cooperation, intergroup bias, moral judgment, decision-making, misinformation, public health, and social media. He has published over 150 academic publications in leading peer reviewed journals (e.g., Science, Nature, PNAS) and wrote a popular mentoring column called "Letters to Young Scientists" for Science Careers. He has written about his research for the New York Times, BBC, The Atlantic, Scientific American, Wall Street Journal, LA Times, Guardian, and the Washington Post and his work has appeared in academic papers as well as in the US Supreme Court and Senate. His research was also featured in TEDx and TED-Ed videos and he has consulted with the White House, United Nations, European Union, World Health Organization, as well as numerous organizations on issues related to his research.
