James M. Corkill is a retired veteran originally from Washington State, USA, who spent over thirty-two years serving as an electronic technician and a Federal Firefighter. His career was cut short following a serious injury sustained in the line of duty, leading him into retirement and a new chapter focused on writing. In 1997, he met the renowned horror writer Hugh B. Cave, who became both a mentor and a significant influence on his creative path. That experience helped shape his passion for storytelling, especially within the realms of science fiction and suspense. Now living in the Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina, Corkill draws inspiration from his life experiences and imagination. He often reflects on his favorite saying: “When you wake up in the morning, you never know where the day will take you, and science fiction is a world you can disappear into.”
