Patreon -- stormcrowproductions -- JD Glasscock is a multidisciplinary storyteller whose work spans novels, film, music, and interactive media. Best known as a prolific LitRPG and grimdark fantasy author with more than thirty published books on Amazon, Glasscock builds emotionally grounded worlds that explore memory, loss, power, survival, and the human cost of ambition. A 36-year veteran of the creative arts, he first established his voice on the 1998 National Slam Team scene alongside peers such as Saul Williams, later carrying that same rhythmic intensity into his grimdark novels, dark noir films, and music. Glasscock is an award-winning filmmaker, author, poet, composer, and game creator defined by what he calls a “Blues-Guttural” storytelling style that bridges gritty literature with cinematic noir. Often described as the “Tarantino of Grimdark,” his work is recognized for its rhythmic, high-stakes dialogue, morally complex characters, and uncompromising visceral realism. Readers who enjoy Joe Abercrombie and The First Law will find a similar mastery of cynical wit, mud-and-blood worldbuilding, and emotionally brutal stakes. With a body of work spanning more than 30 novels and 17 films, Glasscock operates as a fully independent creator under Stormcrow Productions, crafting expansive interconnected multiverses across literature, cinema, music, and games. He is currently developing his first feature film, A God Among Sheep, a female-driven mafia noir screenplay that has already received multiple festival nominations at the script level, further extending his work into long-form cinematic storytelling. His work in interactive media includes a visual novel released on Steam and the ongoing development of Stormcrow — The Under Realm, a grimdark tactical action RPG and dark fantasy video game centered on mercenary companies, consequence-driven progression, tactical combat, and gothic worldbuilding. The game extends many of the same themes found in his fiction: loyalty, memory, survival, death, and the cost of power. In 2026, Glasscock expanded further into music, releasing seven original albums written, composed, arranged, and produced by him under the band name Stormcrowe, with vocals performed by a rotating cast of singers spanning folk, grunge, jazz, synth, cabaret, and blues. These albums — The Liquid of Dreams, Tomorrows and Yesterdays, Leather Psalms & Iron Law, Black Hymns for the Broken, Whiskey Sermons to the Damned, The Gospel of Rust & Static, and The Last Broadcast — function as emotional companion pieces to his narrative worlds and are available on Amazon Music, Spotify, YouTube, and major streaming platforms. Across every medium — LitRPG, grimdark fantasy novels, dark noir film, music, and video games — Glasscock’s work is unified by a single aim: to tell deeply human stories with honesty, atmosphere, and emotional force. Grimdark and dark noir remain the signature threads that bind every world he creates.
