Since childhood, Derek Gibson has written countless screenplays, short stories and more. He wrote his first children’s book in 2018. Although he is fairly new to the niche of writing children’s books, he has loved every minute of this journey thus far. An alumni graduate of High Point University, Derek has a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Journalism. He later received his BSN in Nursing and also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, working as a Registered Nurse. Derek continues to expand on his love of writing books for children and his mission of inspiring kids to read more. In 2025, he released an audiobook for one of his earlier titles, “The Worst Day Ever for a Third Grader.” Derek is currently working on his tenth children’s book, titled “The Quietest Kid in the Loudest Library” which will be released in winter 2026. He also has plans to release his final children’s book installment, titled “Have You Ever Heard of Mr. Knucklebutt?” in 2027.
