Ben Loomis is a writer, historian, and practicing philosopher whose work explores how civilizations rise, fragment, and reconfigure themselves — both in the past and in imagined futures. He is the author of Implicate Orders: A Future History, a five-part speculative saga that blends psychological fiction, systems theory, and philosophical inquiry into a narrative of how consciousness might be remade. Loomis lives a nomadic life, often off-grid, and has spent the past decade traveling through ancient ruins, national forests, and more than a thousand museums across five continents. His essays on architecture, philosophy, and cultural history appear in Both/And and The Gothic World. His projects — whether nonfiction essays or speculative fiction — are unified by a single aim: to stretch our perspective, and to ask what we might learn if we think in generations and centuries.
