At a reunion of old school pupils and friends, recently retired Belle Harrington overhears a story about a gang of seven bullies, who blighted her life decades earlier. Over the course of 25 years, six of the seven have died or disappeared. One every five years, three months after each reunion. All seemingly accidental. Co-incidence...or something else?

It's mid-Winter in the Cornish seaside town of St Foy. In the midst of a family birthday party Emily Duggan, missing for three years and presumed dead after murdering her best friend Star Bright, arrives unannounced. To the bewilderment and shock of her family, Emily insists she didn't do it and has an alibi, but refuses to answer any questions.

The small seaside town of St Foy in Cornwall is ablaze with excitement. The newly elected Member of Parliament has chosen St Foy as the base for his constituency office. His arrival coincides with the discovery of a body in a derelict cottage on the outskirts of the town. A natural death—or is it? For one member of the Curiosity Club, both events foreshadow unwanted disclosures: a hidden agenda of one member of the new MP's entourage and the return of dark secrets, long suppressed but never forgotten.
