The Athyziad

Before the Osseomancer unleashed his hordes of undead against the kingdoms of Jenor, there was A Call to Bones. It was quiet and whispered, but it could be heard by those willing to listen… Huke is a typical teenage boy. He likes girls (although he is too shy to talk to any) and sword fighting. His father is the sheriff of a small village, while his mother recently learned some simple garden-variety magics. All this changes, however, when the old man rides into town. He has ridden into town before, hollering about hobgoblins and spooks, but never like this.

The Osseomancer is finally vanquished, but the work has only just begun. When the mage Snorri and his aide Nauveena convene a council to discuss how best to rebuild, all those who fought against the Osseomancer come to attend. Nauveena expects such a council to be easy, especially compared to years of war. But soon enough, she learns that politics might be more difficult than magic. Differences forgotten during the war are quickly remembered. Each member of the council arrives at Athyzia wishing to build a lasting peace, but each has their own idea of what that peace should look like.

In case the Council of Athyzia did not end disastrously enough, even more dire consequences await the sorceress Nauveena. Looking to blame someone for the council's outcome, the Academy of Mages casts her out, sending her into exile. Now she is without her magic and without a home. With nowhere to turn, she settles at the tiny Clovis Monastery in Jenor's remote wilderness. It will be in this lonesome corner of Jenor that she will try to save the rest of it. Nauveena has only one motivation now, overturning the council. At Clovis, she will study the issue. However, the monks are not helpful.
