Wuthering Heights is Emily Bronte's only novel. Written between October 1845 and June 1846, Wuthering Heights was published in 1847 under the pseudonym "Ellis Bell"; Bronte died the following year, aged 30. Wuthering Heights and Anne Bronte's Agnes Grey were accepted by publisher Thomas Newby before the success of their sister Charlotte's novel, Jane Eyre.

Yorkshire, Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts: Mr. Earnshaw gibt dem Findling Heathcliff auf seinem Gut Wuthering Heights eine neue Heimat. Las borrascas del titulo no solo se presentan en la desolada naturaleza donde se desarrolla la accion sino en las almas de los personajes, una serie de seres humanos frustrados entre los que se destaca el amargado Heathcliff, que vive para la venganza por haber sido menospreciado, debido a sus orígenes humildes.

Hay relaciones que desde el inicio paracen estar destinadas a ser apasionadas y complejas, pero pocas como la que se crea entre Catherine y Heathcliffe, personajes fundamentales de "Cumbres Borrascosas", a los que los deseos "del cruel destino"..... Cumbra Borrascosas difícil hacer una breve introducción de lo que puede ser considerada como una de las obras maestras de la literatura universal.
