Life in the French Quarter is quiet—which is exactly how Ofeila Archer likes it. She's making plans for Christmas, trying not to fixate on the fact that her mother is picking up trash as part of her community service, and otherwise just lazing about. Then life takes a turn, as it so often does in New Orleans, and her mother calls with a problem. It seems she's found a body. Ofelia and her fiancé Zach Sully race to Bywater and are shocked to find that Ofelia knew the victim. She went to school with him, and at one time, he was close friends with her brother Felix.

Mardi Gras is in full swing, which means the French Quarter is bustling with activity and overflowing with people. Ofelia Archer has her hands full and doesn’t need anything extra on her plate. Then the unthinkable happens.

The newly minted couple are in a good place, so when Jared asks Whisper Cove's favorite ghost hunter to go to Harsens Island to visit an old friend and his family, Harper jumps at the chance. Josh Stoker and Jared have a lot to catch up on, including the hard financial times the Stoker family is struggling to deal with. In an effort to keep their business empire afloat, the Stokers have turned their ancestral family home into an inn, and this week they just happen to be hosting a murder mystery event.

Things get even worse when shifters with ties to Gray’s pack start attacking people on the beach. What’s even weirder is that when the duo step in during a frothing melee, the shifters drop dead before they can be questioned.

Hali Waverly is in a holding pattern following hip surgery. She’s getting better, but she still has to be careful…especially living so close to the beach. Still, she thinks it’s safe enough to go out for dinner with her boyfriend Gray Hunter…right up until they’re swarmed by escaped prisoners. Hali thinks everything is okay until one of the prisoners uses magic on Gray and forces him to attack Hali. She manages to snap him out of it, but Gray no longer trusts himself and Hali is left with a doubting boyfriend as well as a lot of unanswered questions.

Between building renovations for her new business endeavor and plans to move in with her boyfriend for the duration of the construction, she doesn’t have time for anything else. All that changes when a teenage girl is almost abducted in front of her bar. Ofelia and her boyfriend Zacharias “Zach” Sully intervene, save the girl, and believe they have the kidnapper caged in...only to find that he’s somehow escaped in plain sight.

They just need to solve a murder before they exchange their vows and take the next step to happily ever after. Peter Humphrey, an insurance salesman from a neighboring town, appeared to be minding his own business when a woman came out of nowhere and struck him down while he was crossing the street. Harper witnessed the accident and vows to solve the murder before it’s time to leave on her honeymoon.

Ofelia Archer has faced demons, evil witches, and freaky zombies, but nothing could prepare her for the horror of meeting her boyfriend’s mother. For his part, Zacharias “Zach” Sully isn’t any more thrilled by his mother’s visit than his girlfriend. The woman, a local who worked at the bank, was last seen at a rather infamous party and her movements before and after that are murky. She has ties to a lot of people, and not all of them are upstanding citizens.

It becomes clear rather quickly that something else is going on and someone has nefarious designs on the find.

It seems Phantoms, one of the most popular shows on the Independent Ghost Hunting Network, is interested in doing a location shoot at Ludington Asylum, which just happens to be located on a small island near Whisper Cove. Since childhood, Harper Harlow has been infatuated with the story of a crazy doctor gone rogue and the resulting investigation that found numerous missing patients (but no bodies) at the former institution. Producers want to feature Harper and Zander on their show, and Zander is happy to oblige despite Harper's reticence.

When Rowan’s friends Sally and Demarcus arrive on their new purchase, a vintage steamboat they want to refurbish so they can turn it into a floating restaurant and casino, Rowan and her husband, Quinn, are thrilled to reunite with them. That only lasts until their daughter, Lana, asks about the invisible children on the boat. It seems there are a lot of them, and they just might be dead.
