We all need to be encouraged at some point in our lives. Life can bring some challenges. Some are due to our lack of knowledge - our ignorance about the result of certain decisions. Others are due to our knowing fully what could result. And still, some are due to the actions of others...none of our doing. Whatever the case, a good word, an encouraging word is always in order. It may be tough to swallow, but still encouraging. These are some of my thoughts that I've written over the years on Facebook.

I was born in a rundown house in a small parish outside of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, during one of the worst storms on record. It rained so much the banks of the Mississippi overflowed. For most families, bringing a new life into the world should be a time of great celebration. But giving birth to a girl was not a joyful occasion in my home. My condition was fragile because I had come more than a month early. Mama never said, but I suspected her injuries and premature labor were the result of Daddy’s fists.

The death of the beloved Lord of Metagore, followed by the crowning of a successor, stirs discontent among the grand dukes. They decide to deviate from the kingdom, and each assumes lordship over their own realms. The new lord, angered by the rebellion, declares war on the renegade dukes, now claiming to be lords.
