In Your Caregiver Relationship Contract, Hallisey, discusses how caregiving changes the everyday lives of the caree, the caregiver, and their circle of loved ones. She uses examples from her own life, as well as many of her clients, to help you work through your elderly parents’ expectations, how to set caregiver boundaries, the need to structure hard conversations with mom and dad, and how to pull together a support network for caregiver self-care. Mental health is a very important topic for me, as I’ve been through it myself and I want to help others to overcome their anxieties and depression. For many people, it’s a very hard topic to talk about, and many people find it embarrassing. I know this because I was one of those people who did not like talking about it. I was afraid people will think I’m weak. If only I knew talking about it to someone will help me more than I can ever imagine.

Spreading awareness of Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia is desperately needed. There are many more people with these diseases than other diseases that get much more money approved for research from the government or from donations. This book was written to bring better awareness that people with dementia matter. Plus, the self-sacrificing hardworking caregivers who take care of spouses also matter.

The silver flash of airplane wings just above the treetops caught her eye. At the same time, her ears were assaulted by the shriek of high-powered jet engines. The creatures, flying in pairs, soon disappeared from sight. The little five year- old girl ran in delight and excitement into the farm house. “Granny, Granny! I just saw two airplanes. They are so beautiful. I could even see the pilot’s face as he turned. I want to fly! Can I Granny? Can I?”

In this book, we will put together four things: bipolar disorder, triggers, boundaries, and road blocks. These things intertwine to make complex issues. Remember, we are not bipolar - we have bipolar disorder. It is not who we are, it is something we have. Through the proper steps, we can get through the people, places, and things that trigger us. We can set boundaries to protect ourselves. In extreme cases, we can even set up a roadblock.

"There is no set of “directions” for caring for a person with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia disorder. Each caregiving journey is unique, and will be in a constant state of change as the disease progresses. However, having a start point in preparing for and going along this journey helps to create a lasting partnership with the person you care for, the care team you build along the way, and may come to rely upon throughout the caregiving journey.

A young lawyer is summoned to draw up the will of an elderly and infirm woman. She directs that all her property be bequeathed to her sister. At the end of the consultation, the woman dies. When the heir goes missing, it is suspected that the woman's death was not due to natural causes. Further investigation reveals that the woman and her sister were trapped in a reclusive lifestyle by a promise exacted by their uncaring and overbearing father. Each woman had a lover whom she wished to marry, but the unions were frustrated by the demands of the father.
