My name’s Candi Cane and every eligible male in my pack is looking to get a lick this year. I’d rather die. Let’s have a Christmas hunt, they said. It will be fun, they said. What ‘they’ didn’t say was who they planned to hunt... or what the prize would be. Oh yeah, that would be me on both accounts. By ‘they’ I mean my father, Alpha of the Evergreen pack. He’s taken things too far this Christmas Eve. My pack is obsessed with Christmas. Humans come from all over to see our Christmas village with no idea they’re celebrating with werewolves.

Gargoyles aren’t supposed to have pesky things like emotions. If I don’t get mine under control, I’ll be forced to spend the next hundred years stoned—and not in the way you are thinking! I’ve spent my life being told I’m a failure, thanks to my inability to become the emotionless, logic-driven gargoyle I’m supposed to be. The fix, according to my parents, is sending me to Slaymore Academy instead of a gargoyle college. That way, I can get my degree without drawing too much attention from the Gargoyle Council until I’ve conquered my emotions and can stand before them as a proper gargoyle.

A big part of why I moved to a remote island was to escape my mother. She wants me to get married, settle down, and pop out some grand-trophies. I’m not opposed to the idea, but every time I swipe right, I seem to end up dating hot messes or worse: suspiciously perfect guys. I want a normal guy who loves to snuggle and binge watch TV until we fall asleep in each other’s arms. Is that too much to ask? I hadn’t even finished unpacking before my mom’s housewarming gift was tossed onto my porch—an antique lamp. While checking for damage, I rubbed the lamp, and you’d never guess what came out.

We'd arrived at the museum, and everything was going well. Okay, fine. That's a lie. It had gone exactly like the rest of my life had since my dino mates had come crashing into my life… which is to say, it had been a catastrophe of prehistoric proportions. By a weird twist of fate, we'd narrowly avoided being arrested after we'd destroyed the fundraising gala and terrorized the guests. Things didn't go as I'd planned for the rest of the trip, either. Especially when Albert decided to slip his leash and go looking for his own little souvenir to take home….

When the museum director throws me a bone by arranging for us to visit a fossil dig in Utah, I jump at the opportunity. I need a breather from all the craziness that has become my life since waking multiple dino shifters. A dig in Utah sounds like exactly what I need, the perfect getaway. As long as I stay away from any dino shifter bones… other than in the bedroom, of course.
