Et il est tombé amoureux fou de la femme de son commanditaire, Consuela Caswell, une jeune Brésilienne perdue dans un mariage de convenance. Alors qu'il lui a promis de s'enfuir avec elle, il l' abandonne à son triste sort, préférant se consacrer pleinement à ses ambitions professionnelles.

Une enquête passionnante à travers l'histoire de la France et de l'Algérie. Paris, le 17 octobre 1961. Tout juste débarqué d'Angleterre, le jeune Nigel Dalby assiste à une scène d'horreur dans le quartier Saint-Michel. Une manifestation pacifique de musulmans algériens défilant pour une " Algérie algérienne " est sévèrement réprimée par la police du préfet Papon.
