Alex ist ein 15-jähriger Schüler, der davon träumt, Weltraum-Reiseführer zu werden. Das Einzige, was ihn interessiert, sind die Sterne.

Das Experiment, dessen "Opfer" Phil Panfilov geworden ist, scheint sich seinem Ende zu nähern. Mittlerweile ist Phil auch mehr als bereit, diese außerirdische Software wieder aufzugeben, die in seinem Gehirn installiert wurde. Um genau zu sein, sehnt er sich jetzt nach einem ganz normalen Leben. Sowohl er als auch seine Firma sind hervorragend in Form. Allerdings kommt wie üblich alles zur falschen Zeit. Die Feinde der Menschheit sind stärker als je zuvor. Trotz all seiner neu erworbenen Fähigkeiten war Phil einer Niederlage noch nie so nahe.

Die Armeen der Allianz, des Imperiums und der Neutralen sowie alle Spitzenspieler und Verhinderer-Clans sind von Nergal dem Leuchtenden aufgerufen worden, in der Lakharianischen Wüste unter seinem Banner gegen den schrecklichsten Feind allen Lebens in den Krieg zu ziehen: Scyth. Doch Scyth muss sich dem Kampf nicht allein stellen. Er hat die Unterstützung einer Legion von hirnlosen, wilden Völkern und grauenhaften Monstern wie dem Zombie-Gitarrenspieler Infect, dem Todesmagier Crawler und dem untoten Krieger Bomber.

Scyth und die Anhänger der Schlafenden Götter mussten sich im Krieg um Tiamats Tempel geschlagen geben. Die neuen Götter, die sich die Wahren Götter nennen, feiern ihren Sieg, ohne sich jedoch bewusst zu sein, dass die Schläfer noch einen Tempel haben. Doch wie lange wird es den Erwachten gelingen, ihn vor ihren Feinden zu verheimlichen? Schließlich weiß Skyths Erzfeind Mogwai von Kharinza, und der neu ernannte Oberste Botschafter der Vernichtenden Seuche brennt darauf, sich zu rächen und seine früheren Positionen zurückgewinnen.
