13. An Abandoned House: With the help of the priest, Watson investigates Brother Emanuel's abandoned house, where he makes a vital discovery. The Blizzard, however, still keeps him from going back to the Abbey.

9. The Questioning: Inspector Lestrade is asking each and every Friar to take part in an interrogation, led by Inspector Lestrade. Holmes and Watson are only asked to assist. However the questioning does not turn out the way the Inspector expected.

18. The Blood of the Messiah: After Holmes and Watson were able to free themselves, they inform the convents Abbot and Vicar. Both of them are not pleased with losing their sacred blood relic.

15. The Veneration of the Virgin: After a discussion with the Abbot and his Vicar, Watson begins to understand the importance of the veneration of Virgin Mary within the Catholic church. While Holmes's interests wander towards the Abbey's rich collection of relics.

12. The Priest of Saint Mary: After a challenging tour, Watson reaches the Anglican church of Saint Mary. The local priest takes him in and also seems to know a lot about Brother Emanuel's past.

19. Confession of a Dead Man: The Anglican Priest from Teddington visits, as promised, the Abbey. Their meeting, however, is overshadowed by another death.

14. Departure 12:50 am from Teddington: After the weather finally settled down, Watson is able to take the train back to Twickenham. Reunited, Watson and Holmes share their recent and crucial findings.

16. The Secret Door: While studying the Chronicles of the Convent Holmes finds out about secret rooms, hidden within the walls of the Abbey. And in fact, Watson and Holmes find a secret corridor.

17. In the Laboratory: Holmes and Watson discover a secret laboratory. Soon they realize that not only chemical, but also questionable medical experiments have been conducted on the premises.

8. Genetics: When the Librarian is murdered too, Holmes is at a loss at first. But then he finds a book at the crime scene, with contents that could profoundly question Christian faith.

20. Suspicions: Holmes does not buy into the Vicar's suicide. Alongside Watson he continues the investigation and uncovers a secret that sheds new light on the case.

11. Inside the Blizzard: Watson is taking on the dangerous hike to Teddington. Accompanied by a mule, he pits himself against the forces of nature.

23. Hellfire and Judgment: Holmes and Watson are at the perpetrator's will, while the accomplice is setting the Abbey alight. They are in a desperate and futile situation. But Holmes has an ace up his sleeve.

Handlungszeitpunkt: Vorfrühling 1890: Der arbeitslosen Miss Violet Hunter wird ein verlockendes und gleichzeitig seltsamens Arbeitsangebot gemacht: Für 120 Pfund im Jahr soll sie als Gouvernante auf das Anwesen "The Copper Beeches" ("Die Blutbuchen") ziehen, allerdings ihr üppiges, kastanienbraunes Haar kurz und, wenn man es von ihr verlangt, ein spezielles Kleid tragen.

"Das getupfte Band" (Original:"The Adventure of the Speckled Band") ist eine Sherlock-Holmes-Kurzgeschichte von Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, die erstmals im Februar 1892 im Strand Magazine erschien und von Sidney Paget illustriert wurde. Die Geschichte wurde im Oktober 1892 mit elf anderen Geschichten in den Sammelband "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" (dt. "Die Abenteuer des Sherlock Holmes") aufgenommen und im August 1905 erneut unter dem Titel "The Spotted Band" in der New York World veröffentlicht.

"Die Geschichte des Beryll-Kopfschmuckes" ("The Beryl Coronet") erschien erstmals im Mai 1892 im Strand Magazine, Im Oktober desselben Jahres wurde der Fall in "Die Abenteuer des Sherlock Holmes" veröffentlicht, Handlungszeitpunkt: Februar 1886: An einem verschneiten Februar-Morgen erblickt Dr Watson vom Fenster aus einen etwa 50-jährigen, gut gekleideten Herrn im Anmarsch, der mit seinen Bewegungen den Eindruck eines Wahnsinnigen macht.

Im westenglischen Boscombe Valley wird der Großfarmer Charles McCarthy an einem bewaldeten Teich tot aufgefunden, wo er einen wichtigen Termin mit einem Unbekannten gehabt haben soll. Da ihm Zeugenaussagen zufolge sein 18-jähriger Sohn James mit einer Waffe folgte und es kurz vor der Tat zu einem lautstarken Streit zwischen den beiden kam, scheint die Angelegenheit klar zu sein, zumal die tödlichen Verletzungen durch den Griff der genannten Waffe herbeigeführt worden sein dürften.

"Die verschwundene Braut" ("The Noble Bachelor") erschien erstmals im April 1892 im Strand Magazine. Noch im selben Jahr wurde der Fall in "Die Abenteuer des Sherlock Holmes" veröffentlicht. Handlungszeitpunkt: Oktober 1886: Lord Robert St Simon, der zweite Sohn des Herzogs von Balmoral, sagt sich brieflich für den Nachmittag bei Holmes und Watson an. Aus den Zeitungen rekapitulieren sie, dass sich der 41jährige am Vortag mit Hatty Doran, der einzigen Tochter eines US-Millionärs aus San Francisco, verheiraten wollte.
