Michael Fuller, author of Kill the Black One First, recounts his childhood in care and then his policing career, from the highs of promotion and justice to the lows of institutional racism, prejudice and family struggles. In the book, he gives details on his involvement in Operation Trident and how he overcome discrimination and stayed strong in the face of adversity. When he joined us in studio, we spoke to Michael about his first time on the beat, the advice he’d give to others experiencing bullying and what it was like to get access to his foster files.

She is a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, and a political activist, endorsing Bernie Sanders. She has also starred in several feature films, such as Entourage, Welcome Home, and Gone Girl.

Born in Bolton, Clive Myrie had his eyes set on journalism from a young age, reading the newspapers of his paper round cover to cover. Despite having studied Law at Sussex University, Myrie applied for the BBC's journalism training scheme, successfully joining in 1988, and the rest is history. Myrie is now an award-winning journalist, having reported from over 80 countries on some of the world's most notable events. Putting his unique perspective into words, Clive Myrie will be speaking to us about his memoir Everything Is Everything.

Joining us at Audible Studios is comedian and writer, Josie Long. Having performed stand-up comedy since the age of fourteen, Long is a familiar with the comedy circuit. We'll be talking to Josie Long about her newest venture, a collection of short stories titled Because I Don't Know What You Mean and What You Don't. We'll find out if Josie is a cat lover, why rubbish housing pops up a lot in her stories, and what impact her ADHD diagnosis has had on understanding her writing process.

Karen Yates has been a journalist for over ten years; she writes regularly on immigration, politics, housing and culture and has written for publications including The Guardian, The Independent and VICE. Yates has been nominated for accolades such as Culture Writer of the Year, and has contributed to award-winning titles such as The Good Immigrant. We'll be chatting to Kieran Yates about her first solo book, All the Houses I've Ever Lived In, finding out what home means to her, how Britain's housing crisis came about, and how we can fight against it.

After nearly dying of septic shock after an emergency caesarean section, Candice Brathwaite started speaking about changes needed in the healthcare system when it comes to the treatment of black women, who are five times more likely to die during childbirth than white women. This experience, amongst other things, led to her first book, I Am Not Your Baby Mother, which went on to be a Sunday Times best seller. Brathwaite is also a regular on Lorraine on ITV, known for her on-point beauty and fashion advice, and is a Contributing Editor to Grazia.

Colfer, born and raised in Wexford, Ireland, alongside his four brothers, earned a degree from Dublin University before returning to Wexford to work as a teacher. After releasing some children's books that went down well in Ireland, he wrote the first draft of Artemis Fowl, and, on reading it, his family demanded he get himself an agent. Artemis Fowl allowed Colfer to leave his teaching job to write full time, and he has never looked back, gaining international recognition and regularly appearing in best seller lists.

Joining us at Audible Studios is the actor of one of the most familiar droids known to man and aliens alike: Anthony Daniels, best known for his role as C-3PO in Star Wars. Daniels dropped out of law school to pursue amateur dramatics and spent time working at BBC Radio and the National Theatre. His agent recommended he go visit George Lucas, who was casting for Star Wars. Daniels wasn't interested in the role but was persuaded to go along. It was a meeting that changed the course of his life.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Irish physicist, cancer researcher and science writer David Grimes, who has penned his first book, The Irrational Ape, which aims to illustrate the power of critical thinking, and how it can literally save the world. Joining us at Audible Studios is Alex Bertie, YouTube vlogger of his transgender journey and author of Trans Mission: My Quest to a Beard. When Alex was born, doctors took one look and put an 'F' for female on the birth certificate, based on genitals. When Alex was 15 he realised he was a transgender man, through many years of struggling with identity. After coming out to family and friends, Alex battled the health-care system in order to take male hormones, have surgery, change his name and grow a beard.

Following on from Strange the Dreamer, Laini has now published its sequel, Muse of Nightmares, released in October 2018. Laini Taylor talks to us about the protagonists in her new book, how much emphasis she puts on world building and whether or not she actually enjoys writing.

Thurlow was born and raised in Scotland and is a former Miss Edinburgh winner. After attending university in England and leaving with a First, Thurlow worked for four years with the Halo Trust in Explosive Ordnance Disposal: locating, de-arming and removing landmines that put lives and livelihoods at risk in former war zones. Thurlow found the work began to take a toll on her health and took a step back. At which point, she was approached to be a contestant on the reality TV show Love Island.
