Often considered one of the greatest novels in American classic literature, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby is the story about a young man named Nick Carraway, who moves to Long Island in pursuit of his dream of becoming a bond salesman, and his next door neighbor, a self-made millionaire named Jay Gatsby, a man who lives a lavish lifestyle, and likes to throw extravagant parties every weekend. Pubblicato nel 1934 dopo quasi dieci di stesure e diverse rielaborazioni, il romanzo conobbe una strana vicenda editoriale. Fitzgerald difatti, convinto di avere commesso un errore strutturale, raccontando "il vero inizio" retrospettivamente, decise di rimettere mano alla struttura del libro, riordinando gli eventi in senso cronologico sulla sua copia cartacea. Pur pubblicata nel 1948, questa versione sarebbe stata in seguito dichiarata "apocrifa", per infine ritornare alla versione del 1934.
