Geulwoll is a Korean word for ‘letter’. It is also the name of a small, unassuming letter shop, located on the third floor of a shabby building in the bustling heart of Seoul. People visit from all over to write and send letters to loved ones – and to strangers. This book is not about rules or right answers for writing letters. It is about embracing the power of what happens when you choose to carve out the time to write them.

A Man of Letters traces the life, career, and commentaries on controversial issues of Thomas Sowell over a period of more than four decades through his letters to and from family, friends, and public figures ranging from Milton Friedman to Clarence Thomas, David Riesman, Arthur Ashe, William Proxmire, Vernon Jordan, Charles Murray, Shelby Steele, and Condoleezza Rice. These letters begin with Sowell as a graduate student at the University of Chicago in 1960 and conclude with a reflective letter to his fellow economist and longtime friend Walter Williams in 2005.

In 1762, 22-year old James Boswell left Edinburg for London. This portion of his personal journals documents the nine months that followed. Filled with detail, description, and zest for life, Boswell's London Journal provides a frank and accurate picture of both the young man and London in the early 1760s. While many of Boswell's journals have been published, this one gained popularity for its racier entries as well as its descriptions of Boswell's first encounter with Samuel Johnson.

Au cours de ces 10 052 jours de détention, il fut un épistolier prolifique, écrivant des centaines de lettres aux autorités inflexibles, à ses compagnons de lutte, aux gouvernements officiels, mais aussi à sa femme Winnie, à ses cinq enfants et, plus tard, à ses petits-enfants.

"Lettera al padre" ("Brief an den Vater") è una lettera di Franz Kafka al padre, scritta nel 1919 e pubblicata postuma nel 1952. In questa lettera, come nei "Quaderni in ottavo", lo scrittore rende con chiarezza quei presupposti filosofici e psicologici che nei suoi romanzi tanto sono nascosti dallo stile e dai temi volutamente surreali e oscuri.

Texte intégral lu par Thomas Compère Morel. "La Lettre au père" de Franz Kafka est l'une des œuvres majeures du XXe siècle. L'une des particularités de cette "Lettre au père", écrite en 1919, est que son destinataire n'en eut pas connaissance. La passion que Thomas Compère Morel nourrit pour Franz Kafka et pour sa "Lettre au père" nous a impressionnés. Son rapport fusionnel avec cette œuvre incomparable nous a convaincus qu'il pouvait en faire une lecture qui restitue la force et la beauté du texte.
