Professor Megan Lewis of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst takes us on an engaging journey through the history of theater in the 20th century. She explores some of the century's early movements such as Symbolism, Expressionism, and Dada, which arose amid political turmoil and quickly began to fuel rapid change in the way playwrights, directors, and actors where approaching theater.

The Lower Depths, also titled At the Bottom, is a 1902 play by the Russian author and playwright Maxim Gorky (1868-1936). This work portrays a group of wretched, impoverished outcasts living in a shelter near the Volga River. They play cards and tell stories, and are briefly uplifted by a new resident called Luca who gives them hope. When he goes off, the illusion of hope collapses, and the result is murder and suicide.

King Claudius, when a young man, wrote a five-act tragedy which was damned, and all reference to it forbidden under penalty of death. The King has a son - Hamlet - whose tendency to soliloquize has so alarmed his mother, Queen Gertrude, that she has sent for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to devise some Court revels for his entertainment. Rosencrantz is a former lover of Ophelia, to whom Hamlet is betrothed, and they lay their heads together to devise a plan by which Hamlet may be put out of the way. Some Court theatricals are in preparation.

America a Prophecy (1793) is the first book in Blake’s Continental Prophecies - the other two being Europe a Prophecy (1794) and The Song of Los (1795). The poem was engraved on 18 plates with illustrations by Blake, and survives in 14 known copies. Written during a time of great political and social upheaval, Blake uses his own complex invented mythology to explore the human need to resist tyranny. His verse is rich in metaphor, powerful, and apocalyptic in scope.

Cyrano De Bergerac by Edmond Rostand. Adapted in English and for the stage by David Serero. This adaptation is the most faithful to the original French text and reduced to an hour and 30 minutes and for 10 actors. This is the full script from David Serero's off-Broadway production and adaptation of 2018, in which he starred as Cyrano with critical acclaim.

En folkefjende er et af Ibsens mest læste og opførte dramaer. Dramaet udspiller sig i en lille norsk kystby, hvor lægen ved det netop opførte kurbad, Dr. Tomas Stockmann, får mistanke om, at badevandet er forurenet. Hans mistanke bliver bekræftet, da analysen af en vandprøve kommer med posten. Badevandet er sygdomsfremkaldende.
