We all have opinions but it's more important to know what God thinks.

And we have our own but more importantly, we know the One who has all of the answers. And His opinion is really the only one that matters.

Each week Jay and Tom tackle life issues and provide Biblical answers that can strengthen your walk and your talk.

If you're a person of faith, they're here to encourage and equip you to "really believe what you say you believe is really real."

If you're not a person of faith, our podcast can provide some answers to questions you may have about why people of faith believe what they believe.

Jay Scribner was the lead pastor of Branson's First Baptist Church for over 25 years, ministered in many countries overseas, is author of the book "Jesus Follower: Beyond Belief, and heads the ministry Hope For America.

Tom Johnson is the worship minister at his fellowship, was in the entertainment business for over 30 years, and authors the daily blog "Derf Nerfel's Thought of the Day."

Together, they share from both life and ministry experience to bring encouragement and insight through this 30 minute weekly broadcast.

  • Divine Healing, Part 2 - Faith in a sovereign God
    Jun 12 2026

Sickness, disease, injury, birth anomalies, weakness, and aging.

Last week we began a conversation as to why all of these exist; the causes and the question of why God doesn't just wipe it all away.

    - Jesus commended those He healed for their faith.

    - Jesus told the invalid man that He healed to stop sinning or something worse may happen.

    - The disciples assumed a man born blind suffered because of his sin or his parents. Jesus revealed to them why he was blind.

    - Would God use sickness as a means to keep people from sinning?

    - Did Jesus just respond to everyone's need or was there more to His healing ministry?

We pray, with faith, to a sovereign God. But there's a key to that phrase and that's the word "sovereign."

Join us as we talk about our faith in our sovereign God.

  • Decoration Day - Honor in a toxic world
    May 29 2026

    Poppies." Lest we forget."

We don't see them very often any longer but silk poppy flowers with a tag that read the above motto used to be handed out each year in May in observation of what is now more often called "Memorial Day."

It was originally called "Decoration Day" or "National Day of Remembrance." And instead of being "celebrated," it is a day set aside to honor those who gave their lives in military service to our country. In this podcast, we reach back into history to research the origin and importance of the day.

For some, it means the beginning of summer. To others, a time to get together with family/friends for a bar-b-cue. To some, it's a three-day weekend. However, some still take the time to decorate the graves of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Some share these decorations with loved ones who have passed.

But honor has become a rare commodity in this day and age. The Bible has quite a bit to say concerning this topic so join us as we delve into the importance of remembering: Lest we forget.

  • Christian Nationalism Part 2 - Christians in the political arena
    May 22 2026

Last week's topic, Christian Nationalism, really "opened up a can of worms."

Though the concept isn't all that new, it has become a point of contention for some, a rallying cry for others, and a miasma of confusion for the rest. Liberal media use it the same way the pagans used the term "Christian" in the later first century; In derision.

It's important for those of us who proudly bear the name "Christian" to understand what people mean by the term "Nationalism." Those more radial will gladly embrace the whole concept while more conservative people believe their nationalism is better labeled "active patriotism."

This Part 2 helps clarify the points of view of a wide spectrum of folks. "What do you mean by that?" is a great way to help keep the emotional explosions from creating collateral damage, reacting instead of reasoning, discussing instead of destroying relationships. We need to know what each other is saying.

And find out what I.A.K stands for!
