• Is Bill Gothard a Heretic? IBLP Survivor Responds to Jinger (Duggar) and Jeremy Vuolo's podcast
    May 23 2026

In Jinger (Duggar) and Jeremy Vuolo's podcast, released April 22, 2026, titled The Dangerous Theology Behind These Scandals | Ep. 92, Jeremy clearly calls Bill Gothard out by name and specifically. Survivors and Duggar snarkers have mixed responses to the podcast and what they said. In this episode, I look at specific things Jeremy and Jinger said, and give you an insider's look into some subtle, but jaw-dropping statements. Is Bill Gothard a heretic? Is he responsible for leading young men and boys astray? What is the difference between what Jeremy and Jinger say on their podcast and what Bill Gothard taught? • Exposing IBLP: Gothard’s Convictions — Clarity, Is That an Option?
    Nov 2 2025

We continue and finally finish our look at Gothard’s “Ten Basic Convictions,” we continue through the list of scripture-backed beliefs from the IBLP Men’s Manual. The deeper we go, the more it becomes clear that clarity was never the goal. Gothard leans heavily on carefully selected Bible verses—but that doesn’t mean the logic holds up. I explore how these so-called convictions blur the line between personal interpretation and biblical truth, and why the “convictions vs. preferences” debate still feels like a theological illusion. I finish walking through the list, highlighting how these convictions seem less like deep spiritual truths and more like recycled commandments with a fresh coat of Gothard gloss. We’ll talk about how this teaching impacts real families and why the lack of definition between a conviction and a preference isn’t just confusing—it’s convenient for control.

  • Exposing IBLP Gothard's Commandment Cosplay and Blame Shifting Logic | Episode 14
    Oct 11 2025

In this episode, we combine three parts of the Exposing IBLP series to explore Bill Gothard’s tangled web of “convictions,” parenting formulas, and blame-shifting theology. Gothard teaches that when families struggle, it’s because someone’s disobeying — a dangerous idea that traps followers in endless cycles of guilt and “spiritual fixes.” We’ll unpack how the phrase “doing it in your own strength” was used to judge anyone who dared to struggle, how a “slothful” son is somehow destined to beat his father to retirement (???), and why daughters were told to adopt their father’s “God-given goals.” From there, we dive into Gothard’s infamous Conviction Quiz and his so-called Ten Basic Convictions — which turn out to be little more than Commandment cosplay. Behind the Scripture references lies a system built on control, contradictions, and shifting definitions of what “faithfulness” really means. Join me as we look at how Gothard turned spiritual growth into a checklist, convictions into control, and parenting advice into a blame game that kept everyone under his authority — right where he wanted them.

  • “When Appearance Becomes Obedience: Gothard’s Hair Rules Examined
    Oct 2 2025

In this episode, I unpack some of the most unusual and revealing IBLP materials—Biblical Principles of Hair Length for Single Ladies, Seven Basic Needs of a Husband, and the Wisdom Booklet #15 medicine section. These teachings on hair and appearance weren’t just odd—they reflected Bill Gothard’s personal preferences and served as a tool for control. By turning outward appearance into a spiritual test of obedience, Gothard blurred the line between faith and his own authority. Join me as we look at how these standards shaped the culture of IBLP and raised troubling questions about power and grooming.

  • Title: Exposing IBLP: Gothard’s Formula for Raising Kids, Dodging Blame, and Distorting Truth | Episode 13
    May 3 2025

In this episode, we examine three deeply troubling aspects of Bill Gothard’s teachings from the IBLP Men’s Manual. First, we look at how Gothard pairs scripture with a racially charged illustration—one that subtly reinforces harmful stereotypes under the guise of spiritual leadership. Next, we unpack his message to fathers, where perseverance is praised, but quitting is equated with total failure—regardless of context or harm done. Finally, we explore Gothard’s twisted logic on “redemption” through children, where failed dreams and past sins are passed down the family line like spiritual heirlooms. From racial undertones to misplaced responsibility, we confront how Gothard’s doctrine sidesteps true accountability and distorts biblical truth.

  • Exposing IBLP: Gothard Twists Childhood Development into Rebellion - Demands Obedience Through Fear
    Apr 26 2025

In this episode, we delve into Bill Gothard’s troubling teachings from the IBLP Men’s Manual, where normal childhood behaviors are labeled as rebellion, and natural curiosity is framed as spiritual defiance. We start with Gothard’s “Early Signs of Rebellion” checklist, which misinterprets typical developmental stages as threats to parental authority. From there, we explore how Gothard uses graphic imagery, such as the raven and eagle analogy, to instill fear and manipulate obedience. His use of disturbing visuals—like a raven pecking at the eye of a cow—turns ordinary child development into a source of anxiety and control. Join me as we examine how these teachings contribute to a culture of fear, shame, and confusion in families

  • Exposing IBLP: Quiet Influence, Twisted Advice, and Misplaced Blame | Episode 11
    Apr 19 2025

In this episode, we explore the surprising theological roots of Bill Gothard’s interpretation of a woman’s desire. First, we uncover the quiet influence of Susan Foh—a scholar whose work Gothard quietly borrowed to justify silencing women. Then we turn to his parenting teachings, where a strange list of cause-and-effect claims blames specific types of child rebellion on the failures of fathers. While some of his advice may sound reasonable at first glance, it becomes clear how Gothard’s twisted wording and rigid framework leave little room for grace and place a heavy burden on fathers. Join me as we unpack the quiet influence, twisted advice, and misplaced blame behind this troubling part of IBLP’s doctrine.
