  • How to Do Stoic Therapy, with Phil Yanov
    May 15 2026

In this live conversation, I’m joined by Phil Yanov to discuss what it actually means to “do” Stoic therapy. We explore how Stoic philosophy can be applied in practice to emotions, habits, values, and everyday problems — and how these ancient ideas relate to modern psychotherapy and coaching.

This episode was originally recorded as a Substack Live conversation.

Her new novel, Calliope Callisto Clark and the Search for Wisdom, is about a difficult young student who joins a philosophy club seeking the wisdom she needs to keep her beloved but equally difficult dog.

One of the few I can listen to over and over again. It’s not just the knowledge but also the practical application to every day life which is the gold for me

Outstanding knowledge and delivery

I like Mr Robertsons down to earth way of communicating and relating stoic values into the modern world and find it very inspiring and useful to help integrate some great ideals and perspectives into my life. Thanks

Great material read by a Scot with a great voice for narrating.

I started with Donalds book "How to think like a Roman emperor" which set me on a path that I think has made some positive differences to the way I think and act. I wish Donald produced more episodes as I continue to try learn about and practice Stoicism but value what there is.

I wish there were more.
