  • Castle Rat's Riley Pinkerton Gets Medieval on Metal
    May 12 2026

Castle Rat is a self-described "medieval fantasy metal band" led by our guest, Riley Pinkerton. In her stage persona as "The Rat Queen," Pinkerton is a sword-wielding heroine on a mission to expand and defend 'The Realm' from those who seek to destroy it. Off stage, she's a friendly, glue-gun wielding creative arts kid, firmly grounded in the real world. She's here to talk about the band's most recent concept album, The Bestiary, why she feels that the body positive fantasy art of Frank Frazetta was actually empowering to women, and how she and her band all get a good laugh out of watchingl the film, This Is Spinal Tap.

  • Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook
    Apr 21 2026

Squeeze co-founder Glenn Tilbrook is here to discuss the band's fantastic new album Trixies, featuring the current lineup of the beloved London, England based band bringing to life a concept album full of songs that Tilbrook and co-founder Chris Difford first wrote together over 50 years ago, well before they'd even recorded their debut album with producer John Cale. The result is arguably the band's strongest album in decades. We also look back on Squeeze's earlier work with Elvis Costello, reveal how The Roots played an indirect role in the band's current lineup, and Glenn pays his respects to dear departed original drummer, Gilson Lavis.

  • The Tragic Legacy of Ike White, with producer Jerry Goldstein.
    Mar 31 2026

Record Store Day 2026 Preview pt. 3.

Legendary music producer Jerry Goldstein (Eric Burdon & War, Sly & The Family Stone and more) is here to discuss the fascinating and often tragic story of Ike White, who recorded a forgotten 1974 funky soul cult classic, Changin' Times, with a mobile truck at Tehachapi State Prison while serving a life sentence for murder. That album so moved Stevie Wonder that he actively campaigned for White's early release from prison. This year, Rhino has remastered and pressed 3000 copies of Changin' Times for an RSD Exclusive release. We discuss the events surrounding the original album with its producer, Goldstein, whose own music business history includes co-writing the 1960s "girl group" hit "My Boyfriend's Back" for The Angels, and being one third of the "fake Australian surf group" The Strangeloves ("I Want Candy") and going on to work with Jimi Hendrix, Sly Stone, and the act he put together, Eric Burdon & WAR, whom he also produced.
