We’ve all heard the old adage: “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.” It’s wisdom straight from the book of Proverbs. However, as we saw in our recent study through Proverbs, sayings such as this one are not hard and fast rules. They may be generally true but don’t promise a guaranteed outcome. And who’s to say that we’re even training up our children the right way?

Parenting is not for the faint of heart. This class will focus on some of the specific challenges of trying to raise up godly, resilient children who don’t fall apart when life gets hard. There won’t be any easy answers offered, but you’ll be blessed to hear the collected wisdom of fellow parents and some practical ways to help your kids develop emotional strength, character, and responsibility. Whether you’re just starting out on the parenting journey or your kids are almost grown, we’d love to have you join us for the conversation.

The mantra of Judges, “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes,” is nowhere more evident than in the character of Micah, who had no problem mixing the worship of Yahweh with the worship of hand made idols in creating his own brand of religion. And the worst part? He had no awareness that what he was doing was wrong! Even today, we could be guilty of creating God in our image, a God who behaves the way we want him to behave.
