Hey there — I’m Steve Campbell. I’m a husband, dad to four amazing kids, follower of Jesus, and someone who wakes up every day wanting to help people live with more clarity, courage, and purpose. Life has taught me that faith isn’t just something you talk about — it’s something you live, wrestle with, and anchor everything to. My relationship with Jesus shapes how I love my family, how I lead, how I speak, and how I show up for others. Every podcast, conversation, and connection I make starts there — from a place of grace, humility, and hope. My Heart Behind The One Big Thing I started The One Big Thing podcast because I believe each of us is created on purpose and for a purpose. We all carry something unique that can make a difference — not someday, but right now. Through the stories, lessons, and conversations on the podcast, my prayer is that you’ll discover the spark God placed in you and feel encouraged to take your next faithful step. I don’t have all the answers — but I’ve learned that when you stay close to Jesus, stay curious, and keep moving forward, amazing things can unfold.© 2023 Steve Campbell Christianity Personal Development Personal Success Spirituality

  • Cancer Survivor on Finding the Blessings - with Ashley Merrick
    May 27 2026

In this episode of The One Big Thing Podcast, I sit down with Ashley Merrick — cancer survivor, founder of United Capping, wife, mom, and someone whose story deeply challenged and encouraged me.

Ashley opens up about the moment she received a breast cancer diagnosis at just 38 years old and how, instead of allowing bitterness to take root, she chose to trust God through one of the hardest seasons of her life. We talk about faith, fear, resilience, motherhood, and the powerful lessons that can come from pain when we allow God to work through it.

What started as Ashley researching ways to preserve her hair during chemotherapy eventually turned into United Capping — a business and ministry that now walks alongside women during some of their darkest days. This conversation isn’t just about cancer. It’s about purpose being born through adversity, learning to look for blessings in the middle of the storm, and realizing that sometimes the hardest seasons in life become the very thing God uses to impact others.

If you’re walking through uncertainty, battling discouragement, wrestling with faith, or simply trying to understand why life feels so heavy right now, I believe this episode will encourage you. Ashley’s honesty, strength, and perspective are a reminder that even in the valley, God is still working.

    We also dive into:

    • Ashley’s breast cancer journey and treatment process
    • What cold capping is and how it’s helping women during chemotherapy
    • The emotional and spiritual realities of facing a life-changing diagnosis
    • How God uses our pain to serve and encourage others
    • Why gratitude and patience matter in difficult seasons
    • The importance of community, prayer, and finding hope one day at a time

This episode is raw, honest, emotional, and full of perspective that I think every listener can take something from.

In this episode, I’m joined by Justin Buonomo, the owner and creator of Journey to Financial Freedom (JFF)—but what we get into goes way beyond money. After coming off one of the hardest and most refining seasons of my life, this conversation hit deep. Justin and I unpack what it really looks like to follow Jesus when things don’t make sense—when suffering shows up, when prayers feel unanswered, and when you’re forced to confront the parts of your heart you’d rather ignore. We talk about:The role of suffering as God’s refining processHow sin and shame quietly hold you back from who you’re called to beWhy many believers misunderstand God’s heart—especially around money and worthinessWhat it actually looks like to walk in freedom, not just talk about itAnd the one big thing Justin is learning right now: how to break free from shame by fully accepting what happened on the crossThis isn’t a surface-level conversation. • Waiting on God’s Timing: My Story of Faith, Provision & Trust in Hard Seasons | Steve Campbell
    Apr 29 2026

This brand new episode is a little different. It's been three months since I've recorded an episode and I felt the need to share my story and what God's done. There’s no guest joining me today—just me, speaking directly to you from the heart.

Over the last few months, my family and I walked through one of the hardest and most humbling seasons of our lives. After stepping away from a career I thought would be my long-term security, I found myself in a place of uncertainty, no paycheck, closed doors, and more questions than answers.

What followed was a season where God taught me how to truly wait on Him… not just say I trusted Him, but actually trust Him when I couldn’t see the outcome. He stripped away pride, fear, identity in work, and the need to control everything—and showed me what real provision looks like.

In this episode, I’m opening up about the internal battles I faced, the moments I wanted to quit, and the unexpected ways God showed up for our family right on time. I’m also sharing how this season changed my faith, my perspective, and my understanding of what it means to surrender.

If you’re in a waiting season right now… if doors have closed… if life feels uncertain… I hope my story reminds you that God has not forgotten you.

My One Big Thing: Sometimes God delays what we want so He can develop who we’re becoming.

🎙️ In this episode, I share:

    • What happened when I stepped away from my career
    • The struggle of waiting when nothing makes sense
    • How God provided in ways I never expected
    • Why suffering can produce deeper faith
    • Letting go of control and trusting God’s timing
    • What I learned about identity beyond success

This is one of the most personal episodes I’ve ever recorded, and I’m grateful you’re here to listen.
