The Internet of Value

The Internet of Value is a podcast about one question:

Can the internet economy actually measure and sustain human wellbeing and wellbecoming?

Today, most systems measure value only after life has already been converted into output: GDP, revenue, productivity, engagement, valuation, or price. But before output, there is time. Before performance, there is wellbeing. Before value capture, there is contribution.

Hosted by Moses Sam Paul, this podcast explores a new wellbeing-centered economic system built around four core protocol layers:

  1. ValueCapture Protocol — how human time, activity, proof, and contribution become visible.

  2. Wellbecoming Protocol — how physiology, emotion, feeling, thought, habit, and performance shape human becoming across a day.

  3. SAOcommons — how skill-based communities coordinate learning, earning, and organization-building.

  4. Wellbeing Identity — how individuals understand who they are beyond given identity, rented identity, and market identity.

  5. At the heart of the Internet of Value is a simple equation:

VC = W × Vcom

Value Capture equals Wellbeing multiplied by Community Value.

This podcast is where the ideas behind the four-volume Internet of Value book are explored aloud: through essays, reflections, conversations, research notes, and field recordings from the making of the protocol, the installations, the games, and the Foundation.

This is not a podcast about crypto, productivity hacks, or generic self-improvement.

It is a long-form inquiry into how human time, wellbeing, skill, and contribution can become visible inside the systems that shape society.

  • Redefining Human Worth through Observer Attention and the Architecture of Human Becoming
    Jul 2 2026

    Podcast Description

What determines the value of a human life? In this podcast, we explore the groundbreaking research of the Internet of Value Research Foundation, led by author Moses Sam Paul Johnraj. Drawing from the foundational paper "Observer Attention Is All You Need," we dive into a new research architecture designed to measure value creation and human becoming more truthfully.

The Power of Attention Every system of measurement—whether it is an economy, a government, or a score—begins with attention. Before something can be priced or governed, an observer must first decide it is worth noticing. We begin by examining the human intuition behind this concept: just as the meaning of a sentence changes based on which object our attention selects (the "trophy" or the "suitcase"), the meaning of human activity depends on the context of the observer.

The AI Bridge The sources explain how the Transformer architecture in artificial intelligence made attention mathematical by weighting the relationships between different tokens. We use this breakthrough as a conceptual bridge to ask a vital question: If mathematical attention helped machines understand language, what kind of situated human attention would help societies understand the process of "human becoming"?.

The Unit of Analysis: The Time Slice At the heart of this framework is the observed human time slice. This unit of analysis records bounded human activity along with its context, evidence, consent, and the role of the observer. Unlike traditional metrics, this approach distinguishes between:

    • Performance Time Slices: Activities that activate community pricing and validation through the value equation VC=W×Vcom×Δt.
    • Non-Performance Time Slices: Activities that do not activate community pricing but may update an individual’s state of "wellbecoming".

A New Protocol Stack We break down the four key protocols that form this architecture:

    1. ~ValueCaptureProtocol: Captures the initial event and attention.
    2. ~WellbecomingProtocol: Interprets the developmental meaning for the individual.
    3. ~SAOcommons: Validates the contribution within the context of a community.
    4. ~WellbeingIdentity: Records the selected, revisable consequences for an individual's identity through Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs).

Ethics and Governance This is not a proposal for a social ranking system or a universal unit of value. Instead, it is a testable research program focused on making observation explicit, consent-based, and falsifiable. We discuss the critical boundaries of this work, including the role of AI-assisted observation (such as the Cortisol Checker) and the necessity of addressing bias, gaming, and cultural variation.

Join us as we explore how to rebuild value from the ground up, starting with time, wellbeing, and contribution.

  • The symbolic shift from attention to wellbecoming i.e. # to ~
    Jun 1 2026

In this episode, I explore how the hashtag # became one of the defining symbols of the social media age, and why the Internet of Value now needs a new symbol: the tilde ~.

The hashtag began as a simple mark used across numbering, telephones, computing, and early internet channels. But in 2007, Chris Messina suggested using # on Twitter to group conversations. By 2009, Twitter made hashtags clickable, and a small symbol became public infrastructure.

#MeToo became more than a phrase. #BlackLivesMatter became more than a label. #ClimateChange became more than a topic.

The hashtag organized the attention internet.

But we are now entering a different phase. AI systems no longer need hashtags in the same way early platforms did. They can infer meaning from words, images, audio, behavior, networks, and context. So the deeper question is no longer only: “How do we tag content?”

The deeper question is: “Who gets to define the vocabulary through which value is understood?”

That is where the Internet of Value introduces the tilde ~.

The hashtag organizes attention. The tilde organizes Wellbecoming.

In the Internet of Value, ~ is not a decorative symbol. It is a grammar for locating human signals inside a value system:

    ~ = protocol ~~ = node ~~~ = facet ~~~~ = signal

For example, BMI is not just a health number. Inside the Internet of Value, it becomes a trace:

    ~WellbecomingProtocol ~~Physiology ~~~Movement ~~~~BMI

    Protocol. Node. Facet. Signal.

This episode is about the shift from trend to trace, from attention to value, and from public noise to living signal.
