About this listen

Award-winning author and master storyteller Mark David Gerson shares stories that entertain and inspire, stories that remind us of our shared humanity.

We are all storytellers. Even when we don’t realize we’re doing it, we express ourselves in story. It’s one of the things that connects us, that make us human.

Long before our cave-dwelling ancestors developed language, they were carving their stories into cliff walls and grunting them around the fire. Long before we could form recognizable words, our infant gurgles told the stories of our day.

Stories not only communicate our lives, they give meaning to our lives. That’s as true of the stories we hear as it is of the stories we tell.

That’s why I created Stories & Reflections: to share some of the stories that matter to me. Because if they matter to me, chances are they will also matter to you.

That’s the thing about stories: However personal they might be on the surface, whenever they’re shared from the heart, they are always universal.

I’ve written more than two dozen books, both fiction and nonfiction, and I’ve spent decades exploring the stories that shape our lives. On this podcast, I tell a mix of stories. Some are mine — real or imagined. Some could be yours.

But whatever I share, it’s always about me and about you and about what it feels like to be us…about what it feels like to be human in a complicated world.

My stories may not always begin with the words “once upon a time.” But they are no less magical. Stories always are.

So hit the play button, and let’s step into that magic together.

    Apr 21 2026
"That’s the thing about our stories, the ones we live from the heart of our beingness as much as the ones we write from that same place. It can be hugely challenging, even impossible, to recognize their perfection in the moment. Somehow, though, that perfection is still present…waiting for the moment when we can acknowledge it…and maybe even celebrate it."

When we listen to the voice of our heart, to the call of our intuitive knowingness, to those messages from that place of highest consciousness…if we listen, trust and take the leaps of faith that inner imperative demands of us, the stars always align for us. Always.
