On the B Side this week, Rachel continues her chat with the infamous and often mis-represented Robbie Swan.
Canberra born and raised, Robbie co-founded the political party – the Sex Party with his partner Fiona Patten in 2008.
The Sex Party evolved out of Swan and Patten’s work as adult industry lobbyists for the Eros Foundation which they founded in 1992. They advocated for sex work law reform, pushed back on censorship and encouraged personal freedoms – including non-violent erotica!
Robbie put his hat in the ring in the 2013 federal election, running for a Tasmanian Senate spot for the Sex Party. Robbie ran on the platform of making Tassie the “mull bowl” - Australia’s cannabis capital – and he came close to a win of the 6th senate spot, missing out by only 250 votes to the then Parmer United Party’s Jacquie Lambie.
