  • Retrotopia Talks Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
    Apr 26 2026

Welcome to another episode of Retrotopia: Another Video Game Podcast. This is a show where we, Alan, Brian, and Sam, get together to discuss video games from years gone by. We like to look at video games from the perspective of lifelong gamers and how they hold up in the retro sphere.

This week we are discussing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC game released in 2003 that redefined cinematic platforming with its fluid parkour, time-manipulation mechanics, and story-driven adventure. Players take control of the Prince as he navigates a cursed palace filled with sand monsters, using acrobatics, swordplay, and the iconic Dagger of Time to rewind mistakes, slow down enemies, and solve intricate environmental puzzles, all while unraveling a tale of power, consequence, and redemption.

  • Retrotopia Talks WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness
    Apr 19 2026

Welcome to another episode of Retrotopia: Another Video Game Podcast. This is a show where we, Alan, Brian, and Sam, get together to discuss video games from years gone by. We like to look at video games from the perspective of lifelong gamers and how they hold up in the retro sphere.

This week we are discussing Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness, a PC game released in 1995 that builds on the foundation of its predecessor by expanding the war between the noble Humans and the brutal Orcs into a larger, more strategic real-time battlefield. Featuring naval combat, resource management, and faction-specific units, the game challenges players to harvest gold and lumber, construct bases, and command armies across land and sea. With its memorable campaign storytelling, iconic unit voice lines, and refined RTS mechanics, Warcraft II helped define the genre and set the stage for the future of the franchise.
