  • Tommy Boyd Reveals the real Dr Who!
    May 4 2026

Whovians, brace yourselves — this one starts as a cosy fan chat and ends somewhere between a history lesson and a full-blown "red string on a corkboard" moment.

Hayley kicks things off by diving into your very strong opinions — from Daleks being dismissed as glorified angry pepper pots (controversial, Chloe… deeply controversial) to passionate defences of underrated Doctors and genuinely terrifying villains. There's love for the classics, a nod to modern masterpieces, and a healthy amount of "I have no idea who that is, but I trust you."

Then Duncan hits us right in the nostalgia with a proper heart-melter: fish and chips, Saturdays, and hiding behind the sofa during peak Doctor Who terror.

Honestly, it's less a memory and more a national treasure.

But just when you think it's all harmless fandom… Tommy enters the chat.

What follows is a rabbit hole so deep it might actually require a TARDIS. From a forgotten musical genius with a suspiciously superhero-sounding pseudonym, to inventing the chat show (yes, really), to psychological warfare in WWII (also yes, really), Tommy builds a case that this almost-mythical figure might just be… the inspiration behind Doctor Who itself.

Is it groundbreaking? Is it unhinged? Is it both?

    We genuinely don't know anymore.

Expect laughs, debates, a fair bit of "hang on, WHAT?", and a call-out to you lot to decide: accidental coincidence… or the biggest Whovian discovery no one saw coming?

Oh — and there's a WhatsApp number if you fancy challenging Tommy's entire theory. No pressure.

  • Hope It's Chips, The Shake 'n' Vac Years
    Apr 27 2026

The nostalgia continues as Tommy, Duncan and Hayley dive deeper into Zach's never-ending WhatsApp of memories — and things quickly spiral into pure retro chaos.

From glowing Ready Brek kids and the iconic Shake 'n' Vac housewife whispering "40% less fat", to the arrival of oven chips and the legendary "hope it's chips" adverts, the team relive a golden age where TV commercials shaped childhoods, cravings, and questionable imagination.

Along the way, they debate why dinner parties have basically died out (too much effort, too many dietary requirements), confess that adulthood now mostly looks like beans on toast, takeaway Chinese, and a slightly better bottle of wine, and wonder if fancy food has just become… unnecessarily stressful.

There's also a glorious detour into conspiracy theories, the idea of a secret island where "not-dead" rock stars are living their best lives, and the usual RRN blend of retro memory, tangents, and absolute nonsense — all rounded off, as ever, with a joke that probably shouldn't work but somehow does.

  • Beans, Butter & Bad Decisions
    Apr 20 2026

This week, things get seriously heated… and not just the baked beans.

Hayley kicks things off with a question that could divide the nation: cheese on top of beans on toast… or underneath? Expect strong opinions, mild outrage, and an unexpected defence of "Daddy sauce" (yes, really).

From there, it spirals—as it always does—into:

The mysterious origins of the Lazy Susan (who is she and what did she do to deserve this?)
A passionate debate about whether sauces belong in the fridge (or live their best life on a café table for 9 hours)
Butter. Why is it so hard now? Who's responsible? And why are we microwaving it like maniacs?

    There's also:

A surprisingly traumatic childhood vomiting story involving a girl called Susan (sorry, Susan)
Questionable food nostalgia (tinned ravioli = fine dining, apparently)
A genuinely elite "cheap but impressive" steak dinner hack
And the eternal struggle of losing sunglasses… and your dignity
It's chaotic, nostalgic, mildly disgusting at times—and exactly what you signed up for.
Pull up a chair, spin the Lazy Susan, and keep your sick bag handy.
    You've been warned.

  • First Shaves & Terrible Dentists
    Apr 13 2026

This week the conversation starts with a classic rite of passage: the first time you try to shave. Duncan remembers teaching himself with his late father's old razor (with some painful results), while Hayley recalls a disastrous school trend involving shaving eyebrows that left half the class looking permanently surprised.

From there it drifts into the strange rituals of barbers, luxurious hot-towel shaves, Turkish barbers wielding cut-throat razors, and the oddly relaxing intimacy of being pampered in a barber's chair or spa.

Naturally the chat wanders further afield: childhood bath routines, "spit washes" in the street, paper underwear disasters, and the surprising things people will pay for on the internet.

The episode ends with a trip to one of everyone's least favourite places — the dentist — with memories of braces, fillings, childhood dental trauma, and the lingering smell of antiseptic and toothpaste in the waiting room.

Another rambling mix of awkward memories, strange experiences and the small details from growing up that never quite leave you.

  • Car Parks & First Dances
    Apr 6 2026

This week the gang dive into the strange nostalgia of car parks — from the echoing ramps, damp petrol smells and frantic coin-hunting of the 80s to today's confusing world of parking apps.

Hayley remembers childhood waits in the car outside Woolworths, Duncan adds the unforgettable aroma of old multi-storeys, and Tommy shares stories that wander from terrible parking to driving habits that were definitely a product of another era.

Along the way they reminisce about first dances at school discos, awkward nightclub floors, handbags in the middle of the dance circle, and the moment the lights come on at 3am. Tommy also tells a surprisingly sweet story about a teenage holiday romance in Scotland that still leaves a lingering "what if".

As always, it's a ramble through memories, mishaps and the small details that somehow stick with us.

  • Hankies, Nicknames & Questionable Nostalgia
    Mar 30 2026

What begins with a perfectly innocent question about keeping a handkerchief up a cardigan sleeve quickly unravels into one of the most gloriously chaotic conversations yet — proof that nostalgia only needs one tiny prompt to spiral completely out of control.

In this episode, the team investigates the practical science of cardigan-sleeve hankies (including emergency sneeze logistics), revisits days-of-the-week everything, and questions why so many households proudly displayed items that probably should have stayed hidden in cupboards.

From souvenir mug collections nobody dares throw away to the emotional attachment we all have to random objects, nostalgia hits hard — and slightly sideways.

Expect vivid school flashbacks featuring knit inspections, lice checks, and verruca treatments that were equal parts hilarious and mildly traumatising. Childhood medical myths, playground survival tactics, and memories that instantly transport you back to assembly halls and PE changing rooms all make an appearance.

Nicknames take centre stage as the conversation turns to identity, embarrassment, and the strange way a throwaway joke can follow you for life. Radio alter egos are revealed — including the unforgettable Funcky Dunc — alongside stories from early DJ days, brushes with public figures, and the delicate politics of what people will (and absolutely will not) answer to.

Along the way, the trio wander cheerfully through trade union tales, forgotten catchphrases, and linguistic mysteries like "going Dutch" and the real meaning behind "Netflix and chill," proving once again that the fastest route from nostalgia to nonsense is simply letting three broadcasters follow their train of thought unchecked.

Got a nickname story, school memory, or strange tradition, dear listener? Send it in — your story might spark the next wonderfully unpredictable episode.

    Cheery bye.

  • Memory Blitz Begins!
    Mar 23 2026

What happens when you give three nostalgic broadcasters 30 seconds, a random retro keyword, and absolutely no preparation? Chaos. Glorious, memory-filled chaos.

In this episode, Hayley introduces a brand-new game — Memory Blitz — where listener-submitted words spark rapid-fire reminiscing, unexpected confessions, and a surprising amount of debate about obsolete technology.

From floppy disks and cassette tapes to the mysterious world of portable radio recorders (and whether anyone actually knows how to use them properly), the team dives headfirst into nostalgia with mixed success… and questionable timekeeping.

Expect childhood homework panic, Radio 1 recording tactics, VHS rewind trauma, vintage tech disasters, and at least one story that probably shouldn't have been admitted on record. Along the way, the conversation spirals delightfully into record shops, landline phone hacks, school oddities, and the universal mystery of verrucas.

Plus: accusations of cheating, broadcast-grade timing skills, and proof that memories are much funnier when you only have 30 seconds to tell them.

Got a word or memory for the next Memory Blitz? Send it in — you might just spark the next bout of retro nonsense.
