  • PRIDE BONUS: Gender Troublemakers
    Jun 26 2026

You've likely never seen this one. A home video VHS short from the early 90s that you can watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlQurqYjS_g

This is a lot different from our usual episodes, kid. We get real personal. For better or worse. Let's dive into the dialogue between the big G and the big T.

    Enjoy!

No, this isn't a film about the first president. This is David Gordon Green's debut film about the miserable state of forming a self-identity in the midst of impoverished youth. It's very much not Pineapple Express, if that's the only DGG movie you've seen - but it's got remarkable bits of the Righteous Gemstones in there. Or at least I think so. If you haven't seen this one before, make your way over to the Criterion Closet and let's take a ride through the rust belt. Enjoy!

    Jun 17 2026

We take another dour and sexy walk down the twisting roads of suburbia with Sofia Coppola's directorial debut. Let's reflect again on the miserable state of being a teenager, and watch Kirsten Dunst cement her place as the existential dark comedy queen. Enjoy!

  • BONUS: I Saw the TV Glow
    Jun 12 2026

BONUS EPISODE -- This episode was originally released to subscribers last year, and as a special kickoff we're releasing it wide! We get really personal in this one, so be gentle with our vulnerabilities as we explore the Midnight Realm.

Reminder: Bonus Episodes break the QP mold! We usually cover the non-queer feature films we loved growing up and pull the queer stuff out, so Bonus Eps are the exceptions — explicitly queer picks, current releases, short films, or non-film stuff like a TV show. We drop these at random, whenever something gets us excited - so get excited!

  • E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
    Jun 10 2026

We're back, and Season 3 kicks off with one of our childhood VHS holy grails: Steven Spielberg's E.T. Just in time for Disclosure Day and more of his alien shenanigans, we're digging into the queer nature of loving a slightly drunk extraterrestrial with your whole chest. Join us as we reflect on the legacy of phoning home while doing our level best not to sexualize the kindest little star-traveler the galaxy has ever known.

    Jan 22 2026

Season 2 finale, sweet mama baby. Rub the sleep from your eyes, brush them teeths while you think about the First Tape, and then pop the Second Tape into the VCR and let it all rain down. We go out of our way in this installment to dissect the plot beat by beat and pull out all that PTA existential queer goodness. We have so much love to give, and we put it in this episode. This is Part 2 of our favorite movie, and last episode for a few weeks! Enjoy!

  • Magnolia (First Tape)
    Jan 15 2026

It's time to tackle one of the most important movies in our decades long friendship. How is this our favorite movie if it isn't even our favorite Paul Thomas Anderson movie? What was it about this frog-fallin' fantasia of human suffering that dealt such a glancing blow to our adolescent brains? We take apart this treasured ensemble film to try and see what made it tick, and why after so many years it still sits at the front of our minds. We're celebrating this movie in TWO parts, just like the OG VHS tape that we watched way back when. Enjoy!

We ping pong back and forth between this movie being really understanding of the trans experience to thinking it's pretty damn transphobic. I mainly had no memory of this movie being so trans - glad we're revisiting! I'm kinda not okay! But either way, we love love love Charlie Kaufman, the poor bastard. Enjoy!
