The Marine Conservation Happy Hour is a podcast that looks at the many different sides of Marine Science and Conservation in an informal setting - a during a pub Happy Hour, chatting casually over a few (or more) drinks. The show is co-hosted by @DrScarlettSmash and @Craken_McCraic. Everyone is a marine scientist who is passionate about the Ocean, marine mammals (whales, seals, dolphins, porpoises, polar bears and more), sharks and other fish, invertebrates (especially squid & octopuses because they are cool), and other marine biology things that live under the sea.     Kathryn Ayres is a shark ecologist and National Geographic Explorer who grew up in a small village in northern England. Despite being far from the ocean, she developed a fascination with sharks at a very young age. She holds a first-class honors bachelor's degree in marine vertebrate zoology, a master's degree in marine environmental management, and a Ph.D. in marine sciences. Her doctoral research focused on the use of aerial drone surveys, acoustic telemetry, satellite tracking and stable isotope analysis to investigate seasonal aggregations and migration patterns of blacktip sharks (Carcharhinus limbatus) in Cabo Pulmo National Park, Mexico.

    Healthy Seas organized the mission, continuing its broader work on ghost-net removal and biodiversity monitoring on Mediterranean shipwrecks. The project was carried out together with Ghost Diving and SDSS (The Society for Documentation of
    Submerged Sites) combining marine conservation, technical diving, scientific collaboration and underwater documentation.

    Volunteer technical divers from Ghost Diving carried out the underwater recovery operations, while Healthy Seas coordinated the mission and its scientific activities in collaboration with SDSS, which contributed historical shipwreck expertise and
    underwater documentation throughout the project.
