  • Bat Bombs & Tycho Brahe: WWII's Weirdest Weapon and History's Drunkest Astronomer-DRUNKEN HISTORY EXHUMED
    May 4 2026

Buckle up, friends — this one's a double feature of pure historical insanity.

First, we're diving into Project X-Ray, the very real WWII plan where the U.S. government strapped tiny incendiary bombs to thousands of bats and planned to drop them on Japan. Yes, actual bats. Yes, it went exactly as wrong as you'd think. Spoiler: a test base may or may not have been set on fire by its own weapons.

Then we're stumbling into the bizarre, booze-soaked world of Tycho Brahe — the 16th-century rock star astronomer who mapped the stars from a castle, wore a metal nose after losing his real one in a duel over math, kept a psychic dwarf named Jepp under his dinner table, and had a pet moose that died falling down the stairs after getting drunk at a party. We're not making this up. History did.

🦇 This is a re-released bonus episode from our Patreon, where we drop our unhinged, extra-dark, extra-weird history content every month. If you love this kind of macabre, slurred, what-the-hell-did-I-just-learn storytelling, head to our Patreon for the full vault of supporter-only episodes — more drunken science, forgotten atrocities, and the historical horrors your textbook left out.

Pinkies up, cheers, and keep it MACABRE!

  • Mad, Bad & Fabulous: Oscar Wilde vs. Lord Byron | Macabre Drunk History Literary Edition
    Apr 27 2026

Two men walked into history dripping in velvet, scandal, and an absolutely unhinged commitment to being the most interesting person in the room. One was a bisexual lord with a club foot and a bear named Thor who lived in his abbey. The other was a gay Irish playwright who once said “I have nothing to declare but my genius” at customs — and meant it. Neither one was going to survive being themselves. But God, what a show.
