Hello and welcome to the JamJarGill Podcast. The intention of this podcast is to educate, inform and empower my audience to reconnect with their bodies and minds in a more natural way and, most importantly, to learn to be their own health advocates. I do this by interviewing a wide variety of holistic specialists and by deep-diving into each modality to see how it has both healed them and their clients. • S01 | E02: Sarah Root: Where Nutrition Meets Hormones
    Jun 23 2026

For this month's episode, I have pulled my conversation with Sarah Root from the podcast archives, partly because I've actually been working with Sarah recently on my own gut health and hormone journey.

Sarah is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met when it comes to nutrition and its effect on hormones, so when I started struggling with this myself, I knew exactly who to call.

Sarah's path into nutrition was shaped by her own fertility journey, which led her from a successful corporate career into helping women better understand their bodies through nutrition, lifestyle and hormone-informed health coaching.

Our conversation starts there, but soon expands into periods, PMS, fertility, stress, perimenopause, contraception, and why so many women reach adulthood without really understanding how their hormones work.

    Along the way, we explore:

    • Why women's health education is still leaving so many gaps
    • The connection between stress, nutrition and hormonal balance
    • How food can support hormone health and fertility
    • Why understanding your cycle can be incredibly empowering
    • The importance of becoming your own health advocate

What I admire about Sarah's approach is that she encourages women to get curious about their bodies. Rather than simply accepting symptoms as something to put up with, she helps women understand what might be contributing to them and where they can make supportive changes.

One of the things I love most about running this podcast is how every conversation teaches me something new or gets me thinking about something in a different way.

One of my key takeaways from this conversation was the idea that our bodies are constantly giving us information, but most of us have never been taught how to interpret the signals. Whether that's through our energy levels, mood, sleep, stress levels or menstrual cycles, there is often more information available to us than we realise.

If you've ever struggled with PMS, fertility challenges, hormonal symptoms, or you've found yourself wondering whether there might be a deeper reason behind how you're feeling, I think you'll find plenty of food for thought in this episode.

  • S01 | E01: Lisa Dumas: Managing Anxiety in Busy Lives
    May 18 2026

In this deeply personal episode of the JamJarGill Podcast, I sit down with yoga therapist Lisa Dumas for an honest conversation about anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, motherhood, nervous system regulation, and holistic healing. Together, we explore how anxiety can show up physically in the body, why so many women silently struggle, and the natural tools that can help us feel calmer, safer, and more connected to ourselves.

    We talk openly about:

    • My own experiences with anxiety and insomnia
    • Panic attacks and physical symptoms of stress
    • Motherhood, overwhelm, and emotional vulnerability
    • Yoga therapy, breathwork, movement, and Yoga Nidra
    • Reframing anxiety with compassion instead of shame
    • Inner child healing and emotional awareness
    • Why holistic healing is about support, not perfection

This conversation genuinely felt like sitting down with a friend and having the kind of chat we do not have often enough. If you have ever felt overwhelmed, anxious, burnt out, emotionally exhausted, or like you are carrying too much on your own, I hope this episode helps you feel less alone.
