Luna steps through a crack in the glass case into a real childhood nursery — her own, from a past she never held. A figure rocks in the dark by the window, humming a lullaby that plays backward. As Luna moves closer, she recognizes her mother's silhouette, but the face is wrong. The cradle beside the rocker holds a photograph of Luna as an infant, and beneath the photograph, a folded note in her mother's handwriting. The note says only: 'I am sorry I could not stay. The child in the cradle is not you.' Luna realizes the nursery is a memory she was never meant to reach, and the figure rocking is not her mother. It is the original Marguerite, preserved in time, waiting for Luna to take her place.
