This week on Hits Different, Ellen and Dave recap their first Subway Series experience, and we get into conspiracy theories about why the Mets briefly gave Gary Carter's number to new Baby Met Nick Morabito. (Morabito has since switched to #55, in honor of Dicky Lovelady and/or Ryne Stanek.) The Yankees broke Clay Holmes leg and I had to see Brett Baty strike out on the side of a hotel in Times Square. But then Tyrone Taylor broke the Yankees and Brett Baty hit a home run into a dumpster.

This week on Hits Different, we're discussing the Mets' 5-4 road trip out West. At moments, the boys we love were bopping. At others, we were watching guys we had never seen before in our lives commit defensive errors resulting in runs. On Mothers' Day no less.

David Stearns caught an attitude in his latest press conference and SOMEONE (no idea who) leaked an incredibly awesome thing that Pete Alonso said to his face in 2024. We're in about the 5 millionth chapter of this nerd-vs-jock narrative, and in this one it is Pete who is coming out looking like the hero. But who knows? Next week that could change.

The Mets have been out west in the SNOW. They've scored some runs but they've also entered a "fluid" shortstop situation. They've decided not to fire their manager, but this announcement has done nothing to tamp down the utterly hysterical discourse about whether they should fire their manager.

This week on Hits Different, we discuss David's new membership in the Society of American Baseball Research and Ellen's latest adventure with Citi Field egg rolls. Kait went to visit Pete at Yankee Stadium. We were a little all over the place, and near the end I think we talk about CIA intervention in Latin America for longer than made sense.

We're still waiting to find out how we feel about the Mets this year. Anything could happen! Carson Benge could win Rookie and Cutie of the Year!!
